Explore the five lands of SUNCORE SLAM, learn how to unlock new techniques and discover the challenges waiting along the Road.
1. What is the Road?
The Road is SUNCORE SLAM's main campaign.
Your journey takes you through five lands, each with its own fighters, techniques and Warden.
After progressing through the lands, you reach THE SOURCE and face FOLDBACK.
Campaign progression depends on defeating the required opponents rather than waiting for a timer or reaching a particular XP level.
2. What are the five lands?
You travel through the lands in this order:
| Land | Location | Warden |
|---|---|---|
| SORA | THE UPPER AIR | SPRINT |
| UMI | THE SHALLOWS | TIDE |
| CHI | THE QUARTER | VELVET |
| MECHA | THE WORKS | IRONWORK |
| NOMAD | THE OPEN GROUND | DUST |
Each land introduces its own combat technique.
3. How does progression through each land work?
Each land includes:
- An arrival scene.
- A way-in challenger who introduces the land's technique.
- A patrol opponent.
- The land's Warden.
- A veteran who becomes available after defeating the Warden.
To unlock a Warden, you must defeat the previous land's Warden and the current land's way-in challenger.
4. What are techniques?
Techniques modify one of your four basic combat moves.
You encounter each technique through a land's way-in challenger.
After defeating that land's Warden, you can carry its technique.
You can carry one technique at a time during campaign play.
All five techniques are available to players in online matches.
5. What are the five techniques?
LOFT — SORA
A charged shot that rises before dropping toward its destination.
CADENCE — UMI
A DOUBLE that lands on the fourth count.
UNDERCURRENT — CHI
A SWEEP that dives before returning in the selected lane.
RICOCHET — MECHA
A SWEEP that begins like a SINGLE before changing to the opposite lane.
ECHO TRAIL — NOMAD
Sends two shots, one of which is an echo.
6. What is THE DEN?
THE DEN is a defensive challenge against the W01VES.
Your objective is to:
CATCH 12 BEFORE THEY BITE YOU 3 TIMES
You only defend against incoming signals and do not return shots.
Successfully holding THE DEN for the first time awards a Signal Pack.
7. What are land trials?
Each land has a replayable challenge.
| Land | Trial |
|---|---|
| SORA | FIRST THERE |
| UMI | THE QUIET ONE |
| CHI | REMIX |
| MECHA | BREAK THE MODEL |
| NOMAD | THE LONG ROAD |
Completing land trials earns XP and accessory pieces.
Finishing all five trials awards LOOPS.
8. What is FOLDBACK?
FOLDBACK is the final encounter at THE SOURCE.
It becomes available after defeating all five Wardens.
The encounter has three phases:
THE LISTENER
The first phase of the encounter.
THE MIMIC
An opponent that returns your own moves using your sound.
THE DUELIST
A fighter using a loadout selected to challenge yours.
You have five lives. If you fall, you restart from the phase you reached.
9. What rewards do I receive for defeating FOLDBACK?
Your first successful clear awards:
- LAVA SIGNATURE
- HEARD AT THE SOURCE title
Completing three clears awards:
- LAVA LEGENDARY
- FULL SIGNAL title
10. What is THE ROAD AT NIGHT?
THE ROAD AT NIGHT becomes available after defeating FOLDBACK.
It introduces additional challenges with:
- One featured fighter each night
- Three featured fighters each week
- Fights played first to five
- Rallies starting at speed 2
The featured night challenger changes at 00:00 UTC.
Your first win against the night's challenger awards 40 additional fighter XP.
Defeating all three weekly challengers earns a SIGNAL PACK+.
11. What is THE GAUNTLET?
THE GAUNTLET is an optional challenge unlocked after defeating all five Wardens.
You must defeat all five Wardens consecutively:
- SPRINT
- TIDE
- VELVET
- IRONWORK
- DUST
Each battle is first to three points.
Losing any battle ends the run.
You can continue a saved run between fights using CONTINUE RUN or choose END RUN.
12. What rewards do I receive from THE GAUNTLET?
Your first successful clear awards:
- BLUE HOODIE
- THE GAUNTLET trophy
- SIGNAL PACK+
13. How do I earn a Warden's mask?
Defeat the same Warden three times to earn their mask.
For example, defeating the SORA Warden three times can award SANJI SORA.
Some rematches may place a trophy at stake, indicated by A TROPHY ON IT.
Leaving one of these rematches counts as a loss, and the opponent keeps the trophy until you win it back.
14. Can I skip or replay story scenes?
Yes.
Select SKIP to skip a story scene.
To replay scenes you have already encountered, open:
MENU > JOURNAL
The JOURNAL contains the people, places and story moments from your journey.
15. Where can I play the campaign?
Open SUNCORE SLAM and select PLAY.
